The seminar “Oral mucosal cancer in young patients: biological and clinical features” was held at the site of the N.N. Blokhin Cancer Research Center, where all members of the Consortium gathered.

In the framework of the scientific-practical seminar the gathered experts pointed out the urgency of the problem of young cancer, noting that the peak of oral cancer incidence falls on the age group up to 45 years, in particular for the past 32 years the incidence of tongue cancer in women aged 18 to 45 years has increased by 382%. Experts also noted the emotional component of this disease in young, socially active people. The experts discussed the epidemiology and etiology of oral cancer in young patients, prevention and early diagnosis. Molecular features of pre-tumor and tumor diseases of this localization as well as genetic features of oral cancer in young patients were considered. We particularly noted the phenomenon of “rejuvenation” of cancer, analyzed the “contribution” of the immune system in the pathogenesis of oral cancer and the possibilities of immunotherapy. And they shared their experience in treating such patients with drugs and surgery.
