Unique plasma protein signature of early-onset tongue cancer

In young patients, abnormal cellular stress and immune regulation may contribute to cancer development, as observed in a study of 2,923 plasma proteins across four participant groups: young patients, elderly patients, young controls, and elderly controls. Gu X. et al. demonstrated that patients under 40 show specific increases in PRDX2 and CCL26 proteins and decreased KLK4 levels compared to older patients and healthy controls. These findings could lead to new early detection methods and age-specific treatments for oral cancer.
